Amaya Austin
Hello there!
My name is Amaya Austin and I am a visual journalist and documentarian located in Austin, Texas. I aspire to cover minority groups, small communities, and the stories behind everyday people. After my high school endured a tragedy that surprised the nation, I vowed to make sensitive reporting my mission. As I seek news to cover, I strive to be a human before a journalist and encourage my colleagues across newsrooms to adapt these practices as well.
RECENT WORK
Meet Henry McDonald, a 62 year-old artist in East Austin, Texas. Despite the numerous challenges Henry faces, he proves that art has no boundaries.
Where I-35 and highway 183 connect, so does morning, rush hour traffic and Francesco:
a young man who left his home in Mexico and his job at a Tortilleria for a change.
